Today, it seems simple. At the time, it was unheard of.

Since the beginning of the music instrument industry, guitars have been built on a horizontal plane. When you picked up your bass, you lifted it from its designed position to make it more comfortable.

But ANSIR Music was founded on a simple question that led to industry-changing innovation: Why?

ANSIR Music makes custom made instruments that are bold, beautiful and sound great – but, more importantly, they are built to fit you. If you want to improve your playing and increase your comfort, ANSIR Music is for you. Our mission is to drive the music community forward with our patented technology.

ANSIR Music was founded by Jody Michael, an entrepreneur and business owner of 30 years. For the past 20 years he has owned and operated a high precision tool and die shop. Over the last 10 years he has worked diligently designing and perfecting his musical instruments and patents.

ANSIR Music is also pushed forward by our wonderful artistic talent, Deric Smith. He is a self-taught artist who has explored several mediums, including but not limited to wood and metal. He has been designing and building one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture and metal sculptures for 20 years. His passion for excellence and detail has carried over into the hand-crafted instruments he creates.

The partnership of Jody Michael and Deric Smith is the backbone of what drives ANSIR Music. In turn, when you get an ANSIR instrument you get Jody and Deric. Their passion, their innovation, their eye for design and understanding of the perfect sound. Which is why we often say our instruments are the art of the eyes as well as the ears. That’s the ANSIR way.
